Stirling Council has rescheduled the community flood meeting that was cancelled in December, and it will now be held on April 18th, from 7pm to 9pm, in the Primary School. In view of existing problems, and of all the development likely to take place in Callander as a consequence of the Park's Local Plan, we urge all local people who can make it to attend the meeting.
Stirling Council has informed us that the flood meeting due to be held tomorrow in Callander Primary School is being postponed due to the snow. We shall inform CECG members of the new date as soon as it is announced.
The Flood Risk Management (Scotland) Act (2009) changed substantially the duties and the apportionment of duties among agencies responsible for flood prevention in Scotland. On December 1st Stirling Flood Prevention Authority and SEPA, along with independent organisation the Scottish Flood Forum, are coming to Callander to explain how the Act is being implemented in the Stirling Council area and what property owners can - and, in some cases, must - do to reduce flood risk.
On Wednesday August 11th Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park Authority's Planning and Access Committee will meet in Callander to decide whether the Park should or should not grant planning permission in principle to the controversial housing development proposal for Churchfields, a greenfield site and important local amenity in Bridgend, Callander.
Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park Authority last night announced the results of the National Park Authority Board election. Of the 1,223 votes cast in Ward 3 (Callander) David Warnock secured 48.7 per cent and was elected by a majority of 185 votes. In this Ward 46.64 per cent of those eligible to vote did so.
