Callander Environmental Conservation Group
YOUR PRIVACY
Privacy Policy

We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors; this policy sets out how we will treat your personal information.

(1) What information do we collect?

We may collect, store and use the following kinds of personal data:

(a) information about your computer's operating system - e.g. Windows, Mac OS, iPhone, etc. - and about your visits to and use of this website, including your geographical location, IP (Internet Protocol address - a numerical label used to route digital information from our server to your computer over the internet network), browser type, referral source, length of visit and number of page views, search terms, and whether or not you have Java and JavaScript enabled in your browser. This information is collected for analysis by our webmaster for the purposes of making sure that our site is as user-friendly as possible and that it is reaching its intended audience;

(b) information relating to any transactions carried out between you and us, including information relating to any donations you may make to Callander Environmental Conservation Group to support the group's running costs. This is for book-keeping purposes only;

(c) information that you provide to us for the purpose of registering with us (including your name, address, phone number and email address);

(d) information that you provide to us for the purpose of subscribing to our website services, email notifications and/or newsletters;

(e) any other information that you choose to send to us.

2. Cookies

A cookie consists of information sent by a web server to a web browser, and is stored by the browser. The information is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server. This enables the web server to identify and track the web browser. Cookies are small text files that contain a short string of characters, for instance: "HJKievsk91q=23678o", none of which can be used to identify the person using the browser.

We may use “session” cookies on the website. We will use the session cookies to gauge the usefulness of information on the website to readers. If at some time in the future we introduce password-protected areas into the website then we will use cookies to enable registered users to access those areas.

Session cookies will be deleted from your computer when you close your browser.

We use Google Analytics to analyse the use of this website. Google Analytics generates statistical and other information about website use by means of cookies, which are stored on users' computers. If your browser allows you to inspect cookies you will find some for our website (callanderecg.org) with four-letter names beginning "_ut". These cookies are set by Google Analytics. The information generated relating to our website is used to create reports about the use of the website. Google will store this information but please note that neither Google nor CallanderECG collects information that could be used to identify you personally. Google's privacy policy is available at: http://www.google.com/privacypolicy.html.

Most browsers allow you to reject all cookies, whilst some browsers allow you to reject just third party cookies. For example, in Internet Explorer you can refuse all cookies by clicking “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy”, and selecting “Block all cookies” using the sliding selector. In Safari, choose Safari > Preferences > Security and choose from the Cookies options. Blocking all cookies will, however, have a negative impact upon the usability of many websites, including any verification-protected and password-protected areas of this one. For instance, the form on the contact page will only work if cookies are enabled: in this case, a temporary cookie called "tntcon" is set, and then it is automatically deleted when the form is submitted successfully.

In-depth information about controlling and deleting cookies in all current browsers is available from Pinsent Masons LLB's excellent website About Cookies, which you will find at http://www.aboutcookies.org/ .

(3) Using your personal data

(f) generate anonymised statistical information about our website's users for the purposes of improving the website and informing our campaign statements;

(g) provide third parties with statistical information about our users – but this information will not be used to identify any individual user;

(h) deal with enquiries and complaints made by or about you relating to the website; and

(i) OTHER USES. Where you submit personal information for publication on our website, we will publish and otherwise use that information in accordance with the license you grant to us.

(5) International data transfers

Information which you provide may be stored and processed in countries (including the United States, where our web host's servers are located, and others through which internet traffic passes during the normal course of general internet use) which do not have data protection laws equivalent to those in force in the European Economic Areas (EEA).

In addition, personal information that you submit for publication on the website will be published on the internet and may be available, via the internet, around the world.

You expressly agree to such transfers of personal information.

(6) Security of your personal data

We will take reasonable technical and organisational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information.

Of course, data transmission over the internet is inherently insecure, and we cannot guarantee the security of data sent over the internet. We have, however, made every effort to secure information you transmit to us, and pages through which you may submit personal information are SSL (Secure Sockets Layer encryption) protected. For more information you may click the padlock icon in your browser when you visit those pages.

You may instruct us not to process your personal data for mailing list purposes by email at any time. (In practice, you will usually either expressly agree in advance to our use of your personal data for mailing list purposes, or we will provide you with an opportunity to opt-out of the use of your personal data for mailing list purposes.)

(9) Third party websites

The website contains links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of third party websites.

(10) Updating information

Please let us know if the personal information which we hold about you needs to be corrected or updated.
